Hi, Its been such a long time since we have all crossed each other's paths.. I am sure many of us have grown and moved on to different directions since 4 years ago! Time flies.. and I hope that all of us still carry within our hearts the many blessed moments that God used to shape us while we were at CITYteens. God is simply amazing, and just hearing how God is leading each of u to different paths to fulfill your God given potential is just really encouraging. =)
My life now compared to 4 years ago is really different. I am in a completely different country for 1! But one thing I have learnt is that God is not so interested in the DESTINATION, but in your journey.. and how u grow through that journey. Let's be open to God, and take out as much as we can on this journey. "Its not the dream of a life time, but its the dream that takes a lifetime". Take care everyone!

When I say, "I am a Christian" by Carol Wimmer

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not shouting, "I've been saved!"
I'm whispering, "I get lost! That's why I chose this way"

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble-needing God to be my guide

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible but God believes I'm worth it

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority--I only know I'm loved

An Email Jeanette sent me. Thanks Jeanette:)! Its short yet so very powerful! Enjoy:)!

Purifier of Silver

Malachi 3:3 says: 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.'

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: 'He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.'

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?'

He smiled at her and answered,

'Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.'

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

P.S. I would like to thank Ben, Liane, Andrea, Wei Jun, Gab, Daph, Sherry, Cyn, Jeanette, Matt C. and anyone else(many posts dun have names:p) who has contributed to this blog from 2004 till now! Without knowing it, we actually managed to keep this blog going from then till now, 2008! That on its own is a testimony of how God is still working through our lives all the way till now:)! Add oil bah(jia you:p)! Lets keep encouraging not only those who were from CT but everyone we can!

Tough times are times God is putting you into the hottest part of the fire. He does it so that one day He can look at you and see His image in you:)!

Charles.

CITYTeens was a time that many of us shared together. We had our good times, we had our bad times. Some of us had a great CITYTeens experience, probably some bad and even for some a mixed one. Yes I know, many of you will tell me, "Charles, don't hang on to the past!" I know that we shouldn't. However, this is not all about hanging on to the past.

The thing is, we were all brought together for a REASON. No it wasn't a reason, such that we were supposed to stay together forever. No. We were brought together so that God could change each and everyone of our lives in some way or another.

Just look back, when were the times most of our lives actually changed? When did God really touch us and move us into serving Him? I really don't know about you, but for me, it was during CITYTeens.

It was the time I fell madly in love with Him, and wanted to change the world for Him(I still do:p)! All the things I did, I did trying to honour Him as much as I could. Yes I was over Zealous a lot of the time, nevertheless I was trying to do the right thing for Him! We all were in our own ways trying our best to serve Him in the ways we knew best.

No, we shouldn't worship the moment or the time or even the organisation. We should worship God! He was the one who brought us together so that we could fall in love with Him and allow Him to use us to touch each others lives:)! Its not something to be forgotten. Its a time we remember so that we can learn from the good things and the BAD!

We build a monument(Genesis 12:7), of our time there. So that we remember God's Greatness during that time, of how He touched and called us in each of our own special ways. That in itself is great, He didnt do it the same for everyone of us, He did it such that He touched and called everyone one of us in a special way.

I look back and now see that many things I did could have been done in a much better way. I don't look back at it in regret. No, I look back at it and learn from the many youthful mistakes I made and try my best to learn from it. Such that I may run the race in a better way.

Not only do I look back at the bad, I also look back and remember all the good times. All the laughter, all the friendships that grew during that period. I look at all the good things that God did through my life and remember how powerfully God can use me if only I give it all up to Him!

I'm not reviving this blog so that I can spend more time remembering the past, no I do it such that we can share our experiences, in doing so, letting go of pains and sharing our joys with each other! I do it such that we can share what God has done in our lives even after we left CITYTeens behind. I do it such that we can treasure our friendships together even now. I hope to see all of you here:)!

God bless,
Charles.
